Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute is a plug-in that integrates into Kerio WinRoute Firewall and protects the Internet traffic against viruses by checking the files transferred via HTTP, FTP, SMTP and POP3 protocols. The program incorporates the latest and most advanced antivirus technologies of Doctor Web aimed to detect the malicious objects which may present a threat to network operation and information security.
The plug-in checks the Internet traffic for viruses, dialer programs, adware, riskware, hacktools and joke programs. On detection of a security threat, they are treated according to the Kerio WinRoute Firewall settings.
Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute performs the following functions:
| • | the anti-virus check of the files transferred via HTTP, FTP, SMTP and POP3 protocols, including the following: |
| • | web traffic files downloaded via HTTP and FTP protocols; |
| • | files transferred over the web-service Kerio Clientless SSL VPN; |
| • | setting actions for different types of malware: dialer programs, adware, riskware, hacktools and joke programs; |
| • | isolation of the infected objects in the quarantine; |
| • | fast and efficient check; |
| • | Internet traffic multithreaded check; |
| • | heuristic analysis for additional protection against unknown viruses; |
| • | automatic update of virus databases. |
New Features in This Release
| • | Installation. From the version 5.00.1 the application can be installed on the computers with 32-bit or 64-bit operating system; |
| • | Mail traffic multithreaded check; |
| • | Enhanced modules. In the version 5.00.1 the enhanced modules Dr.Web Virus-Finding Engine (Anti-virus engine) and Dr.Web Scanning Engine service are used; |
| • | Quarantine. Now Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute gives an opportunity to move the infected attachments to the secured quarantine. |
Resolved Issues and Enhancements
The following issue has been resolved in this release:
| • | The error of multivolumed archives check has been fixed; |
The following enhancements have been made in this release:
| • | In the version 5.00.1 the update process has been changed to minimize the traffic and increase the anti-virus modules' updates download rate; |
| • | The performance of the plug-in is increased; |
| • | The detailed messages in Event and debug logs have been realized. |

Notes
| 1. | In case an antivirus file guard Spider Guard operates in the system (for example, it is included in Dr.Web for FileServers or Dr.Web Security Space products) besides Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute, it is necessary to add to exclusions the Kerio WinRoute temporary files upload directory (by default, %ProgramFiles%\Kerio\WinRoute\tmp). |
| 2. | Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute is not compatible with the older versions of Doctor Web products that contain the Dr.Web Scanning Engine service version 5.0.4, for example Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows 5.0.1, Dr.Web Security Space 5.0.1, Dr.Web anti-virus for Windows servers 5.0.0, etc., and that had been issued before December 2009. |
Installation of Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute 5.00.1
To install Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute 5.00.1 you must have the Administrator's privileges. Before installation make sure that all previous versions of the program are deleted from the computer.
To install Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute 5.00.1:
| 1. | Copy the following files to the computer where Kerio WinRoute Firewall resides: |
| 1. | Run the installation file depending on the type of the operating system that is used on the computer: |
| • | drweb-KerioWinRoute-500-windows-nt-x86.exe in case of 32-bit operating system usefile; |
| • | drweb-KerioWinRoute-500-windows-nt-x64.exe if the operating system is 64-bit. |
| 2. | Run the installation file, choose the language of installation and then follow the InstallShield Wizard prompts. |
| 3. | On the License Agreement page read the Dr.Web License Agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. |
| 4. | On the License Key page enter the path to the license key file or click Browse to select the file. Click Next. |
| 5. | On the following steps specify the path to the Kerio WinRoute installation folder and the destination folder where the plug-in will be installed (C:\Program Files\DrWeb for Kerio WinRoute by default). |
| 6. | On the Ready to Install the Program page click Install to start installation of Dr.Web for Kerio WinRoute on your computer. |
| 7. | On completion of installation you can launch the virus bases update by selecting the checkbox Run update. Then click Finish to exit the wizard. |
Then you need to configure Kerio WinRoute Firewall to use the plug-in by means of Administration Console.
